Nowhere is that clearer than with the Flashback Trojan, a gnarly piece of malware designed to steal personal information by masquerading as very mainstream browser plug-ins. Yesterday Russian antivirus company Dr. Web said that an estimated 600,000 Macs are now infected as a result of users unknowingly installing the software.

WebBand is currently testing a new webmail program. The new program has all the features of the old and adds a few extra to make your experience better. The interface is slightly different, so we wanted to give you some time to play with it before launching it live.

You can review the new system using your own account. Currently all mail is directed to both systems, but the calendar and address book information is only available in the OLD system (we’ll migrate that to the new one when it launches live). To access the new mail, point your browser to http://betamail.webband.com and use your email address and password to log in.

Our hope is to have the system available as our full time mail server in late October/early November. To see a list of the new and improved features, visit http://www.webband.com/webband-webmail-6/.

This ONLY affects webmail. If you use Outlook or another program to download mail or a portable device, you’ll see no changes at all!

Let us know what you think – just click comment on the bottom of this post.

May is national bike month and next week is “Bike to Work/School” week. This time has been reserved to encourage people to get out and use their bike – not only to save a little money, but also to get some exercise.

Many of us here at WebBand will be riding. We’d like to encourage you to as well. So dust off that bike, oil the chain, tighten the bolts and begin to pedal. Maybe you’ll find a new hobby.

For information on the events that Spokane will be holding during “Bike to Work” week, visit www.spokanebikes.net. Hopefully we’ll see you on your bike!
